Festival Season

This year has been colder then usual for our little Berg. That is based on observation not data so it could be I am just bitching about it more then ever and it is normal to freeze your ass off all summer long. Anyway the festival season is upon us. Wrecking the River and others. This weekend Was the First Annual Strawberry Rock Festival. It was an awesome spectacle of peace and music in the Manila Park.
The Music was Amazing. Afro-Punk Fusion I think the one band called their style. They Had a french horn in their brash section which I found very cool. Earlier in the Day I went to Blue lake with a friend for some music and arts.
Of course the Hunger Strike was on my mind. We continue to Educate.
Friday was Cotton Day, the 6th Anniversary of EPD beating Martin Cotton to death. We held a remembrance at Wabash and Broadway. Too busy a week. We need to tell the Gov to end the Torture and we need the City of Eureka to fire these Thugs in the Pictures and any other of the killers on staff so that we can go back to listening to music and being at peace.

Fragile Fall

Spent a fine fall day immersed in a feast of transient art. Pastels on the Plaza happens the first Saturday in October. This year it happened to coincide with the Redwood Coast Belly Dancing Festival

While not as fragile as sand paintings the drawings will vanish with the first rains of the season. The ladies that came to share their joy of the dance will fade with the Sunday twilight. Enjoy a little taste October.

This is some footage of one of the headliners, Ya Habibi dance troupe, from an earlier performance.

DistractInk Hearts

Spent an exhausting three days taking in the sights and sounds of Inked Hearts Expo 2011. Had fun for the first time in a long time. Did not get any ink. Finances being what they are I decided to wait. My art work is still down in storage so it would have been problematic even if I had found someone that made my skin itch.
Here is an update on the Humboldt Pin-Up Calendar Girl contest with the Day 3 preliminaries followed by the finals. The winners announcement is in the video at the end.
I entered my leg and back in the contest. The money was for charity, (Breast Cancer Research) and I enjoy showing off my ink on occasion. Thanks to Chris Taylor for the shots of me on stage. Many more of my pictures are available for viewing on my Flikr stream and I started a group “Inked Hearts 2011” on Flikr with the highlights. And the Radmul channelhas more Video.

Little help?

Back in the day we all spent a little time on the playground learning to get along at recess. For many kids it was the best part of school but it seems to be a vanishing item from today's schools much like art and music. One of the most important playground lessons was, "A little help?" Every time someone missed a ball and it rolled away or they smacked a foul ball the cry went up for a little help and somebody would grab the ball and throw it back. Learning to help out your fellow nan as a matter of course. It was one of a thousands little things one learns to become a member of society.
Along that vein I have some friends in need of a little help getting back to their game. Mina and her man are going through some difficult challenges dealing with a literal foul ball. Joe has testicular cancer and is undergoing treatment. His prognosis is positive and he is undergoing treatment but he is unable to work during chemo. Mina is blogging about their situation here if you are interested. If like the rest of us you are just another kid on the playground perhaps you can lend a little help.
